Vascular Disorders Requiring Surgery

Vascular disorders affect arteries and veins, disrupting blood flow and oxygen delivery to tissues. Conditions requiring surgical intervention include peripheral artery disease (PAD), aneurysms, severe varicose veins, and vascular trauma. These conditions can lead to pain, non-healing wounds, limb ischemia, or life-threatening complications if untreated.

Patients may experience leg pain while walking (claudication), cold or numb extremities, skin discoloration, ulcers, or swelling. Aneurysms may remain silent until rupture, making early diagnosis critical.

Diagnosis includes Doppler ultrasound, CT angiography, MR angiography, and vascular imaging, allowing accurate assessment of vessel structure and blood flow.

Treatment options depend on disease severity and location. Surgical interventions include bypass surgery, aneurysm repair, endovascular procedures, and minimally invasive vein treatments. At IMH, advanced imaging-guided techniques are used to minimize complications and improve outcomes.

Post-operative care focuses on circulation monitoring, wound care, and risk-factor modification to prevent disease progression.
